Immersive sound for film & TV has been around for a while. In this panel, we will talk about what immersive sound can do to the story, and show examples from relevant work.

Rune Palving

Rune Palving graduated as sound designer from The National Film School of Denmark in 1999 and has ever since worked as sound designer, sound editor and mixer on fiction, documentary and TV-series. John Scanlon

With a 20+ year background in education designing curriculum and instructing in Music Recording/Mixing Studios, Post Production, and Systems Integration, John’s role at Dolby is to develop learning resources to inspire, educate, and assist institutions, artists, and creative individuals in their workflows using Dolby technologies. On top of education, John’s event responsibilities include technical manager, systems designer, and lead integrator for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision Experiential installations globally.

Thomas Perez-Pape

Thomas Perez-Pape is an award winning Sound Designer working in movie post-production, specializing in sound editing and mixing. He occasionally works as a sound recordist as well as a sound designer for theatrical performances.
With a background as a certified Microsoft server technician, he is very tech savvy and loves working with complex systems like Dolby Atmos.
Through his company, Plain Momentum, he has been contracted for a multitude of unconventional immersive projects from live opera with surround sound to virtual reality movies and installation art. He teaches an annual class on Cinematic Sound Design in Dolby Atmos at Sonic College, as well as master classes at The Danish Film School, The National Norwegian Film school, 18 Frames, Copenhagen University, and others.
