About the program

Sonic College is a higher education program at UC SYD for young individuals who wish to use their musical and creative talents to build a professional career in sound design. The industry offers a wide range of opportunities within, for example, film and television, music production, game development, podcasting, branding, and more.

A skilled sound designer must be capable of handling a broad spectrum of tasks. Therefore, throughout the program, you will engage with a variety of sound-related assignments and challenges. And who knows—you may end up discovering an entirely different field of interest than the one you initially came from. You might find that your abilities in music production provide the ideal foundation for developing compelling sound concepts for businesses, or that your experience as a film composer serves as a strong basis for creating dynamic sound and music for a video game.

The program builds on your musical and communicative abilities, while also exposing you to a wide array of career paths in the industry through numerous guest lecturers and their professional networks. Over the course of your studies, you will also develop a strong network of fellow students and industry professionals.
