What is the duration of the studies?
- 3 ½ years.
- You must be turned 18 when commencing your studies. (The average age the previous years has been 24 when starting the studies).
- We strongly recommend that you have a GCSE or similar when applying, you may, however, in exceptional cases be submitted on your individual professional competences.
- The teaching is planned so that you can start at entry level (even though many have several years of experience before starting). If you start at entry level you must be prepared for a lot of homework during the first years.
Are there any qualifications or competences, besides the musical, that you are expected to have before commencement of the studies?
- Besides musicality and a gifted ear, it is an advantage if you play an instrument actively or have knowledge of sound software. Knowledge of notes and musical notation is also good. At the entrance examination we additionally look at maturity and good communicative and social skills.
- The possibilities for student housing in Haderslev are good.
What is rated the highest during the studies – the commercial aspect or the musical aspect?
- Sonic College is for young people with a high level of musicality and creativity which is sought cared for every day in Haderslev. We often have a commercial angle to our teaching, but music and sound is the basis for all teaching during the studies.
- The task or tasks are secret and not revealed prior to the entrance examination.
- In the extended application it is good to write about yourself, your musical skills (pitch, instruments and IT/technology) and your dreams and expectations for the years to come. Being able to write elaborately about your submitted products is also a plus, so that examiner and head of division can get an idea on the aesthetic and technical considerations behind your products.
- UC South Denmark has no plans on establishing Media and Sonic Communication in Esbjerg.
- As we write on our homepage we strongly recommend moving to Haderslev when attending our studies. We have 20-25 teaching hours a week and an 80% compulsory attendance.
