Application, Admission & Economy
Application
The application procedure is as follows:
1: Apply for admission to Sonic College via www.optagelse.dk. (Go to 'videregående uddannelse' and search for 'Professionsbachelor i medie- og sonokommunikation'.) The deadline is march 15th, 2012. If you have NemID, it is possible to send your application digitally. On www.optagelse.dk you may also chose to print and sign your application. In this case, please send us the application using ordinary mail.
2: When you've sent the application, you will receive an email with a guide to composing an extended application. The guide can also be found here. You will also receive a detailed specification of the application assessment criteria. The assessment criteria are also available here. The extended application must be submitted and received by Sonic College no later than April 10th, 2012.
3: On May 1st 2012 you will receive information as to whether or not you've made it to the audition. The duration of the audition is a full day, and will be held later in May. During the audition we want to discuss your extended application, and we will give you an assignment that must be completed in cooperation with other candidates. Additionally, you will sit for a less comprehensive individual test.
4: No later than May 20th 2012 you will receive final information concerning your acceptance. A few applicants will be offered standby positions. This means they are guaranteed acceptance in 2013, and that they are in line for acceptance should one of the accepted candidates not want to start studying in 2012.
Admission
All applicants will be assessed on the basis of the extended application and on the competencies specified there. Consequently, an upper secondary education is a very good competence, but not a requirement. Therefore, you may also be accepted solely based on your technical skills.
When you start at college you must have reached the age of 18, and your English skills must be equivalent to 'C-level'. If you are a foreign student, you must possess Danish skills equivalent to or higher than the grade 4 in "Studieprøven i dansk".
Your technical knowledge and skills consist of your accumulated qualifications, no matter how you've acquired them.
This means, that besides education and courses/exams, we also acknowledge skills obtained outside the established educational system, both from professional and leisure activities. This could be activities such as working as a musician, composer, music producer or producer/technician on the radio. It could also be organizational work, association or union work, folk high school (højskole) courses, development projects and honorary office positions.
An individual assessment of skills is always based on the acceptance criteria set out by the College. In our case, courses such as MGK (Basic Course in Music) or folk high school (højskole) courses (e.g. at Engelsholm, Frontsession, Performance House or Ryslinge) will be considered as skill developing courses and are generally considered as very good preparation for Sonic College.
It is difficult to be specific on the required skill acceptance level, as this depends on the general skill level of the applicants from year to year.
